You don't seem to understand. I was referring to the Democratic nominee.  The Democratic convention is in August; the Republican convention is in September.  Unlike the voters who vote during the primary season, the delegates don't begin voting until the convention (in August) and then the votes are counted and the candidate with the most delegate votes (pledged and superdelegate) becomes the nominee.

There is a nominee. He is the presumptive nominee. It might be more proper to call him the candidate. There are only two major candidates left in the race - John McCain and Barack Obama.
